Increased modernity and a greater number of amenities: this is how the Catalonia Mirador des Port Hotel reopens on the idyllic island of Menorca after having undergone a refurbishment and extension project in which Vicaima played a major role in the installation of the interior doors.

Now classified as a four-star hotel, it features several common areas and 119 bedrooms where the company’s solutions will not go unnoticed by any guest, verified in various application possibilities for the Portaro® solution - a set comprising a door, frame and accessories in a single piece. Being a versatile system, it is available in a wide range of designs and finishes, representing one of Vicaima’s most suitable solutions for elegant and distinctive decoration.

Multiple levels of fire performance and acoustic isolation of products certified by accredited international organisations are now an even greater guarantee of the project after the installation of Portaro® EI60 and Portaro® EI30 AC41dB (two leaf) in the common areas, and Portaro® EI30 AC44dB and Block EI30 AC40dB in the room entrances. These are solutions combining fire protection and acoustic comfort to provide a secure and quiet experience for all guests.

Harmoniously integrated in the development, the doors evoke the typical ambiance of the Maó harbour area, the city’s historic eastern location, where the Catalonia Mirador des Port is located. In terms of finishes, the application of Dekordor® HD White, enhanced in some of the applications with grooves, perfectly blends in with the seaside look, inducing a feeling of relaxation and serenity. Distinguished as a highly resistant laminate, this solution is an efficient response to the needs posed by the intensive use of the doors at the hotel.

Besides improving and expanding the premises, the hotel has endeavoured to take a sustainability-focused approach to the buildings, all the more so given the fact that they are located on an island designated as a World Biosphere Reserve - a distinction awarded to the region by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) in 1993 for the high level of compatibility between the development of economic activities and the conservation of heritage and landscapes, where you can find gorges, caves, dune systems and other resources that are home to a large number of species.
