The company’s solutions fitted in one of the most important educational centres in Africa, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University
Vicaima was selected to supply the interior doors for the new Science and Technology complex at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). Various brand solutions were implemented in the classrooms, corridors, halls and common spaces with the aim of creating an ideal learning ambiance, in line with the project’s basic concept - streamlined and functional geometries which enhance aesthetics while providing comfort.
To meet this demand, a multitude of Portaro® solutions were incorporated - a set comprising door, frame and accessories in a single piece, with special emphasis on the Portaro® Inverse - a concept that allows the door to be faced with the frame or panels, thereby creating a seamless, rectilinear surface.
Considering this is an educational project, fire protection is essential and is guaranteed by the Portaro® FD30 and FD30 double action solutions, the latter designed to facilitate circulation between spaces. Comfort and concentration were also taken into account, with the installation of the Portaro® FD30 AC33dB and EI30 AC35dB Inverse fire resistant and acoustic solutions, which ensure acoustic insulation of up to 33 and 35 decibels, respectively.
In the common areas, some solutions include glazing, permitting the entrance of natural light - a scientifically proven factor which influences the student’s learning - in a singular architectural design, where the central courtyard ensures lighting and ventilation in all rooms.
The choice of the coating was based on the sobriety, high resistance and durability of Dekordor® HD Colours Volcanic Grey.
The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University houses a significant number of research laboratories and innovation centres in fields related to science and technology, which are essential for sustainable development, but also in agriculture, mining and healthcare, where a hospital will be added. The building, designed by the RBTA architectural firm, is genuinely unique in the city, with its emblematic central arbour and sophisticated contemporary architecture.
The project features the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified buildings in the country and is located in the Benguerir commune, around 70 kilometres from the ‘red city’, representing the heart of the ‘Mohammed VI Green City’ - an area where 100 000 people reside, housing 20 000 students and researchers, having an average of 20 m2 of natural green space per resident.
Aiming to become a world-class university centre, this city offers an attractive and ecologically exemplary lifestyle surrounded by a knowledge ecosystem. Whether in terms of urbanisation or infrastructure, the entire city framework integrates highly efficient equipment and technologies, in line with the sustainability policy pursued by Vicaima.
With technical solutions certified by accredited international bodies and a broad range of FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) certified products, the company reinforces its track record of avant-garde innovation and sustainable optimisation, designing each range to be fully adaptable to any type of user.
