Micampus Porto Tower: a student accommodation of excellence with Vicaima solutions

2024-11-06

The micampus Porto Tower, also known as the ‘Hoso Tower’, stands out in the Porto city skyline with its modern cylindrical volume, making it a true architectural landmark.

This majestic building, which is strategically located within the city’s largest university campus, is marked by its distinctive architecture and has become a new benchmark in terms of student accommodation. Featuring fully equipped rooms and common areas designed for study and socialising, the recent development provides a warm and tranquil environment, contributing to an excellent academic experience.

In its quest for comfort, security and functionality, the micampus Porto Tower included several Portaro® solutions by Vicaima - a versatile, ready-to-install set of door, frame and accessories. At the room entrances, the EI30 AC40dB fire and acoustic Portaro® solution is a highlight, delivering the necessary fire resistance and outstanding acoustic insulation.

The living areas were fitted with the Portaro® EI60, EI30 and EI30 Inverse fire doors, reinforcing security of people and goods in areas of intensive circulation. Besides these, several Portaro® Inverse solutions were also fitted - this is an innovative solution which aligns the door with the panels, providing rectilinear and continuous surfaces providing a contemporary look which enhances the design of the interiors and adds value to the architecture of the building.

Aesthetics and functionality were complemented with the Dekordor® HD White coating, combining a neutral colour that can easily be integrated into any decorative environment. Its high durability and resistance make it ideal for intensive use environments like university accommodation.

Aligning with Vicaima’s commitment to sustainability, the micampus Porto Tower adopted sustainable construction practices and prefabricated systems which minimise waste and the carbon footprint. This approach is reflected in the values shared by Vicaima and micampus, one of the largest student accommodation networks in Spain, with almost 6500 beds across 28 developments.

Reputedly one of Europe’s leading players in the design and production of doors, frames, wardrobes, panels and furniture pieces, Vicaima implements a solid ESG policy, which emphasises its commitment to sustainability, social responsibility and governance, thereby contributing to the creation of innovative, high-quality solutions.
